Mazzgoon was the best restaurant of our vacation to Croatia in May 2026. Our first meal was so good, in fact, that we went back the next night! The food was wonderful (particularly the sauces), service was professional and attentive, and the setting was quiet and comfortable. Our top dishes were fresh fish: amberjack fillet with a delicious garlic sauce and wonderful potatoes, and a killer smoked swordfish with leche de tigre. A bottle of medium-bodied 2024 Rizman posip -- the best wine of our trip -- had balance and enough body to complement the food perfectly. Mazzgoon's motto is "stubbornly different"...and it's true! It really does stand out in delivering food, drink, and overall experience that are a big cut above what we found at many other tasty, but undistinguished, peers on the Dalmatian coast. First impressions were so misleading - dishes inconsistent some generous others very small and overpriced - service was slow and very rude and yet waiters pressured customers to tip - when if anything they should have been compensated
