We didn’t visit Mekan Restaurant for the food this time, as an old friend was having a surprise birthday party in the private hall downstairs. The downstairs space was a lovely surprise—quite spacious, with its own bar, plenty of seating and toilets nearby. It worked really well for a private celebration, with enough room for everyone to sit, mingle, dance and enjoy themselves without feeling cramped. The main restaurant is upstairs and is also a nice size, with another bar and toilets. They also have an outdoor seating area, which looked like a lovely spot to sit and enjoy food or drinks when the weather is behaving itself! I can’t honestly rate the food because we didn’t eat there, but the owners and staff were warm, welcoming and very friendly. Based on the lovely atmosphere and hospitality we received, I would happily return another time to try the food properly. A great venue for parties and private functions, with a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of space. Our surprise celebration went down a treat! Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
