A Masterclass in Sicilian Cuisine and Hospitality As a vegan, dining out can sometimes feel like being offered a plate of grilled vegetables and being told to be grateful. Not here. I was genuinely amazed by the variety of authentic Sicilian dishes available. These were not adaptations or afterthoughts—they were traditional recipes full of flavour, history, and soul. It is incredibly rare to find a restaurant that offers vegan options with this much care, creativity, and respect for Sicilian culinary traditions. What made the experience even more special was the owner herself. She personally took the time to walk me through the menu, patiently explaining the dishes and ensuring I understood all of the options available. She was warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and never made me feel rushed. I was also deeply impressed by the care taken to accommodate my vegan requirements and the attention given to avoiding any cross-contamination in the kitchen. The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented, generously portioned, and packed with incredible flavour. You can immediately tell that everything is prepared with passion, skill, and a genuine love for authentic Sicilian cuisine. The quality of the ingredients and the attention to detail are evident in every bite. My partner, who was born and raised in Sicily and grew up eating these traditional dishes, was equally impressed. He immediately recognised the authenticity of the recipes, the quality of the ingredients, and the care that goes into every plate. That is not a compliment given lightly. And then there was the vegan chocolate cake. After more than 15 years living in Italy, I can honestly say I have never found a vegan chocolate cake quite like this one. Rich, moist, indulgent, and absolutely delicious. I was already planning my next visit before I had finished dessert. We have since returned several times and have brought family and friends with us. Every visit has been exceptional. The food, the service, the hospitality, and the obvious passion for preserving authentic Sicilian cuisine make this restaurant truly special. If you are in Messina, stop reading reviews and book a table. This place is a rare gem, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. I’m really disappointed with this experience. We waited more than one hour just to receive our pasta, which is simply unacceptable. After such a long wait, the pasta was unfortunately undercooked. We were very hungry and ended up eating it quickly anyway, but the quality did not match the time we spent waiting. Overall, the service was extremely slow and the food did not meet expectations. You immediately feel welcomed. The fish dishes are incredibly fresh — you can taste the sea in every bite. The pasta is cooked perfectly al dente, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. Every plate looks like it was prepared with care and passion. And the aperitif? Simply outstanding. The cocktails are well-balanced and crafted with attention to detail, making it the perfect place to start (or end) your evening.
