A bakery gem a bit off the beaten path. This bakery was super busy when I visited, but the customers lined up carefully, and the flow of the check-out was almost alarmingly fast. The staff was very friendly while maintaining an excellent pace. I tried the chocolate UFO bread, and it was spongy and light with a good balance of chocolate chips. Everything I tried on the menu had a light delivery. The juicy chicken coppe pan loaf was very light, and the chicken was delicious and flavorful with a good amount of veggies to mild the slightly spicy chicken. The salt bread is loosely croissant shaped and had a lingering buttery aftertaste, which I loved, and the salt was subtle. The coffee sweet bean roll had the same lightness as all of the bread I tried, and the flavor was on point. That being said, if you want something heartier, there is definitely something on the menu for you. This baker must really love cheese because there are tons of breads with cheese baked in or melted on top. There’s also a few deep fried bread like the curry roll to try, or if you fancy runny eggs on rolls, you can find it here. Even on a holiday it was jumping. The final bonus point is the coffee you’re allowed with a purchase over ¥500. There’s a milk added option on the machine, so you don’t have to prepare your cup before starting your coffee, but there’s only one machine, so a line can form when a lot of people are checking out. I’m American and live in New York and Texas. We do not have such wonderful bakeries like MERRYZ!
