Organized and clean. The best pastries ever made by Amish. Very fresh and not sickly sweet.

Stopped in this week. Showers were nice and super clean. $12.60 or buy 50 gallons of fuel. There was parking, even late at night. There is a nice sized convenience store. There is a really nice Truckers Lounge with chairs / couch / table. Laundromat facilities are available. Everyone I encountered was friendly.

The last time I drove from Iowa City to Ames, I came across on US 30, which is about as fast as the I-80/I-35 combination and a little more interesting. On hindsight, maybe I should have taken more advantage of Iowa's 640 acres sections where there's usually a gravel or blacktop road every mile and zig-zagged my way over. Around Tama, I realized that I needed fuel for the rental car and a shot of caffeine on this still early morning. At a distance, the Meskwaki Travel Plaza offered the promise of cheaper gas and a good snack selection. It's a nice looking facility, with a lot of space, and good access from the Highway. The fill up part did it's part, but the snack selection (for what at least I like) was a little sparse, and the coffee was Midwest convenience store OK. I wouldn't go out of my way to gas up here again, but for future convenience, why not?
