I visited Mhel for the first time after a friend recommended it to me, and overall I had a great experience. The food was absolutely amazing—everything we ordered was flavorful and well-prepared. Even on a Wednesday night, the restaurant was still quite busy, which shows how popular it is. One thing to note is that the menu is fairly small, with only a limited number of dishes to choose from. The biggest downside was the wait time. We waited around 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which felt quite long, especially considering the menu isn't very extensive. The atmosphere is great for enjoying a few drinks and sharing dishes with friends. The portions are on the smaller side, so it's best to order several items if you're dining with a group or have a bigger appetite. Overall, despite the limited menu and longer wait time, the food and vibe made it a worthwhile visit, and I'd be happy to come back again. Price per person: $100+ Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Great spot! Casual, cost vibes but high quality food. Food came out quick and they switched out plates. We sat at the bar so got to watch them prep the food. They switched the menu daily but the beef stays on the menu. The amberjack was one of the best dishes in Toronto. We loved the chicken as well. The eggplant was the worst thing we ordered. They were out of the prawns that looked amazing. They only offer sake. We portions aren’t very big and meant to share. Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Some dishes are exceptional. I’ve never had tuna that high quality in my life. It’s something to be experienced. Other dishes are good but not Michelin star calibre. Mostly the vegetables. And I’m a vegetable fan. Service had high behavioural standards (frequent but not too frequent check-ins, always ensuring water is filled, etc) but left something to be desired. Plates should be changed between dishes to elevate the tasting experience. Rice was forgotten and only served at the end of the meal and not comped. One dish forgotten entirely. Napkins and chopsticks were never refreshed. Chopsticks were disposable etc Servers also seemed a little unsure of some of the dishes (what was in them, how they were supposed to be cooked, etc). Just general gaps that shouldn’t be there in this type of restaurant. They were very accommodating of a gluten free guest which I appreciated tremendously.
