I had the pleasure of dining at Michi in Hachijojima, and it was one of the highlights of my trip! This cozy restaurant is run by a lovely family, and their service is truly heartwarming. I visited twice – once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times, I went for the grilled mackerel set, which was delicious and incredibly satisfying. What really impressed me was that they offered the lunch special at dinner for the same price, something rare to find! It was a nice surprise to enjoy the same quality meal without an extra charge in the evening. The grandma who serves is active, attentive, and very kind, making the whole experience feel like a home-cooked meal with family. Another unexpected convenience was their cashless payment options. In remote areas like Hachijo, it’s rare to find places that take credit cards or e-payment, but Michi accepts cash, credit cards, PayPay, and dBarai. Michi may be a small restaurant, but it’s excellent in every way – service, taste, price, and convenience. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit to Hachijojima!
