I took my family to Butcher & Singer last night and couldn't have been more disappointed with the food. I have been a regular customer at several other steakhouses in Philadelphia and elsewhere, including Capital Grill, Barclay Prime and Del Frescos, but I had never been to this Steven Starr steakhouse. Simply put it, was consistently below average. My wife and each ordered the Delmonico. Both were a little tough and essentially tasteless. no marbling now flavor. My 2 other guests ordered the $90 Porterhouse for 2. Even with the bone, I was surprised to see that it was actually smaller than my Delmonico and was similarly without flavor, (although at least it was not tough). The sides of onions/mushrooms and brussels sprouts were fine, although probably the smallest sides I have ever seen at a major steakhouse.
Not much more to say other than maybe i hit it on a bad night? But I have never had a problem with paying top dollar for a great steak, but at best, this was Golden Corral quality at NYC prices.
