This sushi was some of the best we’ve ever had. There was no English menu, but we used our translation app to easily order everything. The staff was incredibly welcoming. We ordered a sushi platter, and the chef came out with a book, explaining each piece of fish with pictures. We had an amazing experience. My husband & I were looking for some sushi for our last night in Shimoda. Our ryokan host recommended Mimatsu & called to make a reservation for us (& give them a heads up that we spoke little Japanese). The menu was easy to Google translate, and we had an incredible bi-lingual table neighbor who helped us order. The chefs made amazing sushi with fresh local fish, we could taste the ocean in the best way. This was a fantastic meal in a friendly place, and we hope to come back for another hyper local & well crafted meal again on our next adventure to Japan. Yum!
