Besides Bibi Khanym Mosque, visit Minaret in the vicinity. Uzbek cuisine can be tasted here. Many people come to enjoy good chorba, pilaf and lagman. You will appreciate delicious tea at this restaurant.

The gracious waitstaff welcomes guests all year round. Service at Minaret is something one can call prompt. Prices are democratic for the quality you get. Clients like the homey atmosphere at this place, they want to come here again and again. But google users rated this spot and it didn't achieve a high rating.

The food was decent. Unable to get plov from here due to the timing I went. The person serving us was really nice and had good manners. A little bit of waiting around especially when there was only 2 of us there. The atmosphere wasn't the best. Sat inside with a TV and no real decor or anything that eye catchy but did its job. The food was nice although there was confusion in being able to know exactly what is inside the dishes ordered e.g. ordered stuffed beef kebab, asked what was inside and he said stuffed but when we asked for clarification as what it is stuffed with he just said olive oil. The wife bit into it and it was a lot of oil which kept an unpleasant film around the mouth. There was a lot of fat inside the meat itself (I don't mind it but the wife isn't keen on it at all). The mantu were decent, edible and had decent flavour but was a bit too fatty. The skewers we ordered, the different shashlik were actually really nice. All this served with the bread which was nice and not tough. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: UZS 50–100K Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Minaret was a good finding in Samarkand, it’s right in front of Bibi Khanim’s mosque and the main bazar or market. The osh or Uzbek Pilav is good, the meat is tender and its flavour is authentic. The service wasn’t the best as you need to wait a lot for them to accommodate you and bring you the menu but it doesn’t outweigh the price, quality and the vibe that the restaurant has.
