I went with a friend to complete the New Haven Pizza trilogy of Sally's, Frank Pepe's and Modern Apizza. We're from New York. We had a medium eggplant and a small meatball and sausage pie. Both were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The difference from Sally's and Frank Pepe's is that Modern uses an oil fired oven and the others use coal which makes for a crispier crust. Moderns pizza had more cheese and a thinker crust and the pies were normally shaped. It was more like some New York Neapolitan pizza we've had. While I like the crispy crust better, the pies at Modern are excellent Highly recommended. Again, I like all the pizzas we tried in New Haven, but, in my opinion, I like New York pizza better.
