horrible experience after we were sitting down on the lounge ordering our food one of the workers came in telling us that we couldn’t be here because one of the people was wearing open shoes after the hostess saw what we were wearing. very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience they are so unorganized with their policies are funny honestly. the guy that kicks us out very unprofessional and with zero fine dinner experience and apparently his the “manager” don’t waste your time if you trying to have a pleasant time. We had a very uncomfortable experience. We were a group of six trying to enjoy a nice afternoon and when we arrived to the host they told me that I had to remove my hat in order to let us sit. I removed my hat and we were sat with no issues. Once our server comes and takes our drinks and food order, a security comes to our table telling me that open toe shoes were not permitted for men...after we were sat and waiting for our drinks and food. I asked if there was anything that could be done since we were already waiting and he said rudely that he was the one in charge and that I had to leave. Very poor service and professionalism, instead of finding a way to accommodate us since they already let us in, he preferred to kick us out and loose a table of six. Never coming back or recommending this place. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We stayed at the Thompson Hotel for our anniversary for 1 night and decided to celebrate at The Monarch Restaurant. We heard the views are incredible as well as the service and food so we were anxious to dine there. We come from high end hospitality professions and have experienced some of best food and and service in the world. The first turn off was the $125 fee per person to sit by a window with a view. The view is important if its NYC, Chicago, ocean, mountains etc., but the dallas skyline was not worth $250 to us. The hostess wished us Happy Anniversary and sat us at a large table for 4. The table was fine but my husband sitting across from me was literally touching the computer station where all orders were and checks were entered. Our server Thomas suggested he sit next to me and look out at the view (which we couldn't see unless we were in the high price booths). The first thing our server said to us after that was "Is it your birthday"?. Not a big deal, but again our expectation for this Michelin recommended restaurant. From the moment we interacted with Thomas until the very end, we were made to feel like he was doing us a favor by being his customers. He was sarcastic, condescending and judgmental of each item we ordered. Upon his suggestion of ordering a small table side pasta experience to share with our main course, we followed his recommendation. After the pasta was finished, it sat on the table while we waited for what was supposed to be our accompanied proteins. His response was " I have no idea what happened to your proteins so you can start with the pasta, it will be here soon". I could care less if they came out together, but it was how he presented it and how it actually came with no regard for us. The food and food quality was definitely the highlight of the evening. The only complaint we had was the Caesar salad. Way too much dressing, garlic and salt. Everything else was amazing. We are not those people who need to be acknowledged for a celebration at a restaurant, but every single restaurant we have ever been to celebrating a birthday, anniversary or graduation has presented a small dessert or gesture to show their appreciation for our choice of dining. We did see our server Thomas giving out 11 X 14 custom posters to his 2 other tables for the birthday guest at that table which was unique and fun. As Thomas got busy with his 2 other tables, we barely saw him again. My husband attempted at a bit of small talk but Thomas was distracted with another employee in his ear informing him of some "issue" he needed to handle so Thomas interrupted my husband to handle it. Being at a restaurant of this level, we expected a presentation of the dessert menu and after dinner offerings. He laid the menu down for us to read with no recommendations or after dinner drink/coffee offerings. Once we finished we sat for over 20 minutes patiently waiting for our check. Once we paid, we got up and walked out without any thank you from any staff except the hostess. With all of this being said, some people go back to places if the food is incredible but the service is just ok. Some people will never return to a restaurant even if the food is incredible but the service is so bad. The best way to describe the vibe inside The Monarch Restaurant is "Snobby and snooty" and not the patrons. My husband's profession is high end hospitality. He has thousands of affluent customers that frequent fine dining establishments. Neither of us will recommend The Monarch to anyone based off our experience. We did not feel special and that is where the problem lies. Thank you for patiently reading this entire review. Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: $100+

Amy, thank you for sharing such a detailed account of your anniversary evening. We're sorry the night did not feel like the celebration you and your husband were hoping for, and we apologize if our service did not reflect the experience you should expect from us. Please accept our apologies. We want to clear up one item: the fee you mentioned for the window seats is not an additional fee, it merely goes against your spend in the restaurant so it's as if there's no fee at all if each person spends at least $125 We are sorry if that wasn't made clear, and we would very much like the opportunity to hear more from you directly. Please reach out to us at info@monarchrestaurants.com so we can personally address what happened during your visit and see what we can do to earn another chance to impress you.
