Stumbled into Monarch after a date night at Hotel ZaZa, and it was the best accident of the evening. The vibe was trendy but comfortable—I showed up in business casual and felt right at home. We grabbed the covered outdoor seating (with AC, which is basically a Houston miracle) and opted for couches instead of a table. Best decision ever—it felt like lounging at a friend's place, but with better food. Service was on point, and my red wine never ran dry. The trout dip? Absolute showstopper. Could've stopped there. But then came the truffle parm fries (life-changing), lamb chops with polenta (gone in 60 seconds), and steak and potatoes—my go-to, and it delivered. Felt like we were out of town for a few hours. If I'm ever back in the area, I'll be popping in again without hesitation. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30 Parking options: Valet
