Some dishes are pretty cheap but personally I found the portions a little small. Food was tasty although some ingredients were definitely not fresh. The tofu was sour. They have chopped chili and chili oil which you can add. Made the meal so much more delicious with the chili. Service was okay but did feel they were stingy with everything as a whole, i.e. saucers and portions.
A bug in my food ... Pic attached, My mother in law and I ordered the Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce, we almost finished the whole dish, we found a bug, was disgusting! I asked the receptionist but he said is normal to have bug in the veges, I asked whether you wish veges probably, what u going to do? he persisted it's quite normal.... Not refund a cent . I wouldn't come back again, the hygiene isn't very good there
The owners of East West took over Munch Time a while back and there is no denying they have established a loyal customer base - come Sunday evening and you will see why! It's not easy winning over Asian diners as they are notoriously fussy, however this is no problem for Munch Time as they simply care about providing good food consistently at reasonable prices. Let me correct that, at great prices!
Don't be fooled by the appearance of this place as they have brought some good chefs with them. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of food coming from this small food court take away that could easily better many of the fancier Chinese restaurants in Chatswood. I am referring more specifically to the flavouring and cooking technique. The ingredients are of course relative to the price.
The crispy noodles dishes are cooked with care not thrown together like 90% of takeaways. The hot pots and stir fry dishes are cooked to order served with the aroma of the wok and fragrant. The Chilli Chicken is a dish to be experienced, served on the bone, crispy and with a very well balanced Szechuan inspired sauce of dried chilli and bean paste.
