Michelin Guide rating

Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking.

This charming family-run shop serves Penang asam laksa, Nyonya laksa and fried spring rolls. The light and refreshing red soup of the signature asam laksa strikes the right balance of sour and spicy and is nicely topped off with mint and pineapple. The spring rolls, stuffed with vegetable filling, taste equally good. More info

Friends and I went here on a Saturday afternoon. Hardly any queue when we went so we barely had to wait. The waiter was very friendly and also took the time to explain the menu and also answer some of our questions. Food itself is good too, portion was decent and reasonably priced. The laksa was tasty, can't get any better honestly. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: RM 1–20 Parking space: Difficult to find parking

I plan my Penang trips to coincide with either Thursdays or Fridays because that's the only two days of the week that My Own Cafe serves Lemak Laksa. When a family run place serves just one thing (laksa asam or lemak) with one side dish (deep fried spring rolls) and that's the entire food menu, you know it's going to be good stuff. Please don't come here expecting restaurant-level service, commercial cafe environment, or a very particular laksa taste, it's really their own cafe and to me, the flavor and portion is perfectly balanced and suits my taste until the last drop of tangy soup. This is the only asam laksa that I'll happily eat. Long live My Own Cafe!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Tried their Assam Laksa and it was surprisingly quite empty during a weekend lunch hour! We waited barely 5 minutes to be served and it tasted good. The portion was decent and I enjoyed the sour taste of it. Noodles were soft and chewy too. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: RM 1–20
