My wife and I recently celebrated our anniversary at Myth. The summary: It was a let down. We both ordered the $100 per person set menu. This included the typical mezes for starters . The portions were small and the quality lackluster. I am not being cheeky, but Trader Joe's sells better hummus. Next came a garlic truffle beef carpaccio. This dish tries too hard and is smothered in so much attempt at flavor that the beef is not part of the picture. 7/10. Next, the Yellowtail sashimi. This, again was a mediocre version of this often replicated dish. 7/10. These starters also make you question if Myth wants to be a Greek or Italian restaurant. They are not Greek dishes. At this point our waiters (who were very attentive) asked for feedback. We were honest about our disappointment. We also pointed out that their self-published upscale dress code (no tennis shoes, etc.) was not enforced. They offered us a refund if we wished to tap out. We declined, a mistake in retrospect. Next up was the Horiatiki (Greek Salad). Again, sub-par. 6/10. Fried cheese 8/10. At this point, it was around 9:30 PM and the restaurant had become "night club" loud with music and raised voices. It was hard to talk at the table. Then marched out some costumed Greek Goddess Warriors for a very simply choreographed sword jabbing drama. Our main dishes were next. The Branzino (sea bass) was excellent. Juicy and simply served, it was a 9/10. At this point in my review, you may be wondering when lamb might enter the picture? This Greek restaurant barely highlights lamb in their Set Menu. The lamb chop dish arrived: two thin, very average chops that could have been off the cafeteria menu at Toronto General Hospital. 7/10. In summary, we truly believe the chef favors making Italian food over Greek. The service/staff are nice and professional, the atmosphere is welcoming (but loud). But, if you love delicous Greek food, you will find that Myth is MYTHING THUMTHING. Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 2
