Advertises as vegan friendly, but when asked, the only option was edamame. One review says they did oat milk but when asked, no other milks were available so this may have changed. The place was dead, the staff were less than helpful. It was so hot inside everyone was forced to sit outside, which isn’t a problem necessarily but would have been nice to not feel like we had too. Meal type: Other Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Dietary restrictions: Advertised as vegan friendly, but no alternative milks available and the only food option was edamame.

We came across Niwa by chance after arriving in Kyoto by train. Tucked away in a quieter spot, it offered a very pleasant atmosphere. The owner was incredibly friendly, welcoming us with a local Japanese snack as a gift. The green tea was excellent, and it was fascinating to watch the master prepare it right in front of us. Overall, the experience was warm and memorable. Meal type: Brunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
