While Japanese izakayas are pretty common around, I found this izakaya @nami.sake_bar with local influences interesting. Their menu is very clearly categorised into skewers, raw, fried, warm, hardcore, warm, carbs, and even coriander dishes They even offer unlimited sake for $138 per person till 10pm, lots of different sakes choices to pair with the food, I don’t usually drink but was glad that the server recommended a light sake for me to try, which was alright. Definitely check this out if you’re a fan of sake! Overall, the food met expectations and there wasn’t a miss. To begin with, we had their potato salad, a hearty and umai one, love that they have added fried shallots to the the chunky potatoes. The fried edamame with typhoon shelter crispy bits was tasty as a snack to go with drinks. For raw stuff, we got the marinated akagai, haven’t tried this dish elsewherethey’ve made it slight spicy and I loved it! So flavourful and the akagai fresh and meaty itself. The yakitori including chicken wings, cartilage, ox tongue, root, and tofu were all on point. Also got the red fermented bean curd (nam yu) karaage, crispy and juicy. Finished with a bit of carbs in the end, highly recommend the claypot rice arancini, so unique! It’s essentially the claypot rice you usually get and all condensed into a tiny rice ball, the outside is fried rice crisps, while you get preserved sausages and normal rice inside, you’ve really got to try it for yourself! Lastly, got the tom yum seafood risotto, rich in tom yum flavour and it was quite filling. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
