Have you ever had one of those days where you’re craving something specific, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is? You want something warm and spicy, but not overwhelming bold and deeply flavourful, yet balanced. It was precisely one of those days for me, and wanting to try something different, I stopped by Neon Tiger on Ossington. The restaurant features a unique, modern, yet pleasantly rustic aesthetic that feels right at home in the neighborhood. The menu is creative and immediately catches your eye with several intriguing dishes. The staff was genuinely welcoming and helpful throughout the meal. During my initial visit, there was a minor miscommunication where both my appetizer and main dish were fired and brought out simultaneously. As someone who prefers to enjoy an appetizer first before moving on to the main course, ensuring dishes maintain their optimal serving temperatures and flavour profiles, having both on the table at once wasn't ideal. However, the server and management handled the situation graciously and without fuss, which speaks volumes about their hospitality. Techa Dip with Garlic Naan (8/10): A blend of roasted garlic, green chilies, crunchy peanuts, creamy cream cheese, and yogurt served alongside warm garlic naan. The dip was wonderfully rich, the heat level was well balanced, and the peanuts added a fantastic textural contrast. A stand out dish. Chilli Chicken (7/10): A solid addition to the menu. The chicken was tender, well coated in a savoury sauce, and delivered a pleasant level of spice. The accompanying rice arrived slightly cool in temperature; keeping the rice steaming hot would make this dish even better. Chicken Momos (9/10): Absolutely delicious. The momos were plump, perfectly filled, and brimming with flavour. The accompanying Jhol broth was rich, creamy, and elevated the entire dish. A must-order! Neon Tiger is a stylish, clean, and modern addition to the Ossington food scene. Even with a small timing hiccup on the initial order, the gracious service and exciting culinary offerings made it easy to return. With a few minor adjustments to food temperatures, it has all the makings of a go-to neighbourhood spot.
