Neos Rigas is beautiful and hospitable. Walk-ins are welcomed. We will make you feel like home from the very first moment. An excellent choice for groups. It is a hundred year old tavern. One of the oldest in the Plaka district. In its present form dates since 1935. It has a history of four decades as a folk music tavern. Hundreds of thousands have enjoyed our food, dances and music since 1975.
New Rigas is the only place for Athens by Night. You will love the musical program with Greek folk costumes and dances from all the Greece. Also the oriental dances will delight you. The Syrtaki, Zorbas the Greek, Zeibekikos dance and traditional songs, promise a night you will never forget.

We visited New Rigas as a group of three. Overall, the experience was mixed. The show started at around 9:00 PM. The price was €45 per person, cash only. The price included appetizers, food, and a bottle of white wine. The portions were generous, with plenty of meat, but the food was quite simple, more like canteen-style food. The restaurant itself also looks a little tired and is clearly aimed mainly at tourists. The show is interesting to see once: traditional Greek dances, nice costumes, and a lively atmosphere. Many of the dances felt quite similar, but overall it was enjoyable. The most unpleasant part was the interactive section at the end. We were invited onto the stage and thought that everyone who came up would have a chance to dance a little. But then the dancer walked in front of the participants, looked people in the eye, and chose only some of them. From some groups, almost everyone was invited, while my mother and I ended up being the only women who were not asked to dance. We had been actively supporting the performers all evening, clapping, smiling, and enjoying the atmosphere. When guests are already invited onto the stage and then only certain people are chosen, it can make the others feel quite uncomfortable. That moment left a particularly unpleasant feeling. It was a special evening for my mother, and we came to relax and have fun. I cannot say that we disliked the whole evening — overall it was fine. But unfortunately, the final part of the program slightly spoiled the overall impression. I think the organizers should pay attention to this part of the show. If guests are invited onto the stage, it would be better to involve everyone more equally so that nobody feels left out. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €40–45
