Chef Lex met us at our table after a delicious dinner of curated salmon with chimi verde sauce; it was grilled perfectly. Our friends raved about tempura veggies, roasted potatoes and curated salmon. The wines by the glass were varied and good. My Pernicious beer was fresh. The atmosphere lent to easy convo in that we could hear each other. Nigel was server & bartender and handled both with ease and a smile. We’ll def be back and will bring other friends. Check out the chef profile in DURHAM mag April/May edition. Nerra in Durham, NC is a charming boutique-style restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating that creates a relaxed yet upscale atmosphere. The menu is intentionally small, but every dish is packed with bold, layered flavors and thoughtfully prepared. Their drink program is equally impressive, featuring a creative lineup of specialty cocktails. I tried the Deep Current, a tequila-based cocktail that was refreshing and perfectly balanced. If you prefer something nonalcoholic, the house lemonade is also highly recommended. The jambalaya is one of the restaurant’s signature favorites and tends to sell out quickly, so it’s best to arrive early if you want to try it. Also worth mentioning are the Golden Coast Platter, Cajun Seafood Pasta, Curry Shore, and Red Snapper — each dish was equally flavorful and well executed. The Curry Shore especially stood out with its subtle Thai-inspired flavors, bringing a unique and aromatic twist to the overall dining experience. The service was excellent and fast, adding to the overall experience and making the visit even more enjoyable. Overall, Nerra delivers a memorable coastal-inspired dining experience with flavorful food, creative drinks, warm ambiance, and attentive hospitality. Highly recommend.
