I usually enjoy visiting Nespresso stores to browse their new flavours and stock up on my coffee pods, and in most of their stores I generally like their self-serve kiosks. But every single time I have visited the Emporium store, the staff hassle me during the self-serve purchase process. They don’t even ask if I need help - if I delay even a nanosecond between steps when purchasing at the kiosks, instead of asking ‘do you need any help?’, they swoop over, proceed to tell me to press this or place that over there, and then reach in front of me to try and show me. I get that they are trying to help and are probably bored, but the way they hover and interject is off-putting and makes me anxious every time I visit. Yesterday when I visited the store, I paused briefly during my purchase as I was considering going back to add another pack of pods to my purchase. A young female employee noticed me pause and assumed something was wrong. She leapt over to me and abruptly instructed ‘you need to press pay’. When I told her ‘thank you, I know how to pay’, she became defensive and said ‘I thought you were stuck on that screen. You need to press the pay button’. Seriously? I just want to make my purchase and get out. Don’t provide self-serve kiosks if you’re not willing to let people self-serve. And if your staff genuinely think a customer needs help, then perhaps ASK them if they do instead of making assumptions. If this type of interaction happened once, I could understand. But the same thing happens every freaking time at this store. I won’t be going back. Price per person: A$40–60 Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
