We visited New Tōji late in the evening today, around 10:40 PM, after finding this quietly lit gem near our hotel. The staff welcomed us warmly and thoughtfully offered us seating on the first floor, keeping in mind that we were accompanied by our little one. The traditional Japanese-style floor seating created such a comforting and authentic experience, especially for the baby, who thoroughly enjoyed it. The ambience exuded a calm, inviting atmosphere, made even better by the exceptional hospitality of Kensho, who truly went above and beyond for us. Despite the language barrier, with a mix of English, Japanese, and plenty of help from Google Translate, he patiently guided us through the menu and made wonderful recommendations. We tried a total of five dishes, each one remarkable in its own right: A soft, fluffy omelette for the baby The chef’s selection of assorted fish, served with a touch of fresh wasabi A hearty bowl of ramen Comforting miso soup Crispy fried chicken with a delicious side Every dish was prepared with care, bursting with authentic flavors, and beautifully presented. The experience, the food, and the kindness of the staff make New Tōji a must-visit, especially if you’re looking for a welcoming spot to dine or unwind late into the night.
