Always had good service until today. Walked in ahead of another couple and was seated by our server. The couple behind us was seated in the same section but the server obviously knew them and immediately went to them and took their drink order while ignoring us. She brought out the other couples drink order with the dish of pickles and bread basket and proceeded to take their meal order while continuing to ignore us. By this time we had been there nearly 15 minutes without menu's or drinks. I made eye contact with the manager and he must have realized what was happening and came over and brought us menu's and took our drink order. He ended up waiting on us the rest of our time there and our server never acknowledged us while taking good care of her friends in the next booth. We've never been treated like this in all the time we have been going there. Not sure if the manager ever said anything about it to 'our server' and he never apologized for our neglect and long wait on the part of that server. April 17 2024 I have been a loyal customer of NY Deli located on Garfield in Clinton Twp now for some 20 years. The deli offers a variety of soups (daily) and meals where one may enjoy a half sandwich and cup of soup or a full sandwich complete with a side dish including tasty pickles. The owner and his staff makes certain meals are prepared consistently but with an eye toward quality. The owner is present and engaged in the food preparation process and he is visible at various times of the day to oversee his business. The deli offers a range of items, (hot or cold) good portion size which priced reasonably well with efficient service. Servers Erlid and Kelly managed by Ashleigh work together well to ensure your service is timely and efficient. Recipes include “homemade” selections of salads and hot/cold entries which are prepared fresh with deserts displayed which offer a variety of choices to finish off your dining experience. I will add as well, the prices are reasonable and a frequent diner discount is also offered which is certainly a positive feature. Lastly, there is a “carry-out” menu available for those patrons who have a need to enjoy quality food on the job or at home. I highly recommend the NY Deli as a place to gather and enjoy to a wonderful meal for lunch and dinner in a casual friendly manner.
