Decided to try an old favorite restaurant. It always had a cozy atmosphere. There were some mixed reviews, and sadly they were quite accurate. The onion soup was watered down with little taste; the Caesar salad was just poor quality and our dinner guests felt their entrees were just “average “, as was the service. Even for the Vineyard it was overpriced and I must agree the new owners seem to be trying to finance the renovations to the adjacent hotel at the cost of the Newes Pub. Disappointing when Year round residents will not return or recommend this place.

Prices here are ridiculous and food was very, very disappointing. Cup, not bowl, of chowder, $13. Burger...$27 and skimpy--nearly $10 to $15 higher than much better options at good local places. Fried chicken sandwich arrived and we mistook it for another burger--it was so over-fried. Upcharges for every little add and for refills of soft drinks (something that has disappeared almost everywhere). I love the Newes from American...have for over 30 years, but I am afraid it will not survive a winter as locals will see through the prices, which seem intended to subsidize the renovations of the hotel off of one-time visitors on vacation who would be unlikely to return for such low value at such high prices. Sorry....want to share these thoughts as a message to management because I'd like for this most recent visit not to be my last. Focus on value and earning return business.
