Best sasimi tray I’ve ever had. Beautiful presentation, delicious food. Omelette sandwich also very very good. The small amount of sauce on the sandwich really accentuates the flavor. A simple but yet perfectly executed beef curry. A tempered taste but full of depth, straight tasting as expected of a curry but you can taste its soul. Every bite was filled was satisfaction. We traveled through Japan late Winter, 2026 for 17 days. It was our first time to Japan and we relied heavily on Google reviews (and maps and translate) to find places to eat, of interest and shop and were rarely disappointed in the recommendations (most of which were spot on!). Leaving a review to pay it forward to the next folks who are planning to visit and hopefully mirror our experience. We had just finished seeing the Torii gates at Fushimi-Inari. It was raining on and off, so we looked up some restaurants in the area in order to re-energize and have a little reprieve from the weather. We happened to find Nico Kitchen, saw it was highly reviewed and were in the mood for sandwiches for lunch. Locating it wasn’t difficult, but there is only a small sign in the front. Inside there were a few wooden tables and it appeared to be run by a husband and wife. We ordered the steak sandwiches (for 2) and the egg sandwich. We split these among 3 people and it was plenty of food. Having not had a Japanese style sandwich before, they were not huge in size (compared to a hoagie), but cut into neat squares. The main ingredient (beef or egg) was the star of the dish, easily out-proportioning everything else so there was no mistake what kind of sandwich was being eaten. The steak sandwich was a thick cut of beef, which I was a bit apprehensive thinking it would be tough and chewy. I should have never doubted the reviews.it was tender, almost melt in your mouth and seasoned beautifully. The egg sandwich was a good contrast to the rich steak sandwich, fluffy, eggy but would be filling if ordered on its own. Service here was outstanding. We could feel the pride that was taken in creating this food and the enthusiasm to share it with others. It was such a great place that we would put it up as one of the top 5 food that we had eaten during our travels in Japan.
