Very disappointing experience at Nobu Doha tonight. The dinner service was extremely poor and far below what anyone would expect from a restaurant of this reputation. We ordered a bottle of wine, but it was clearly not right, so we politely asked for it to be returned. Later, while walking to the restroom, I overheard our waiter complaining about us to the bartender because we had returned the wine. That was disrespectful, unprofessional, and embarrassing. We are experienced wine drinkers and had a legitimate concern. Instead of handling it professionally, the staff made us feel uncomfortable for raising the issue. Between the terrible service, the mishandling of the wine, and the waiter’s comments, the entire evening was ruined. The overall experience was unacceptable. Unfortunately, we will not return. Nobu Doha at the Four Seasons West Bay is everything you want from a restaurant of this caliber — and then some. We visited roughly four times during our stay, for regular dinner service as well as their ladies’ night and happy hour events, which offer exceptional value for the quality of food and beverage you receive. Every single visit delivered. From cocktails and mocktails through to appetizers, mains, and dessert, the food was flawless — ten out of ten across the board. The staff and management matched every bit of that energy: attentive, professional, and genuinely warm. The views and setting are stunning, and the space itself is beautifully appointed in a way that feels worthy of the Nobu name. Zero complaints. We would return without hesitation. Highly recommend. The food here tasted decent, but the dining experience and service were extremely disappointing and upsetting. Three of us spent 1840 QAR for this meal, which is definitely not a small amount of money. We expected basic, thoughtful service at this price point, yet we received none at all. I called in advance to make a reservation, and clearly mentioned we were coming to celebrate a birthday. However, there were no birthday arrangements prepared whatsoever when we arrived. Later, two of my friends went to the restroom and were away from the table. Unexpectedly, staff brought out desserts and candles right away and told the birthday person to blow out candles. It felt really lonely and awkward for the birthday celebrant to celebrate alone while half of our group was missing. Before serving our birthday cake, I politely asked the waiter if they could play a simple birthday song, but my request was flatly refused. We brought our own birthday cake to celebrate, and a cake service fee of 135 QAR was charged on the bill. I am okay with paying this fee, but absolutely no matching birthday services were provided afterwards. Staff only opened the cake box and placed the cake on a plate; there were no table decorations, no cake trimming, no cake-cutting help, and no thoughtful birthday arrangements of any kind. It was upsetting to pay the fee but receive zero corresponding service. The service was inadequate, and the staff appeared to lack sufficient professional training. Such service cannot live up to the restaurant’s high pricing. Restaurants everywhere across Qatar generally maintain a high standard of service, so it is disappointing that we failed to receive proper, deserved service at this high-priced restaurant. Overall, the service quality cannot match the high prices we paid. We left feeling frustrated and disappointed. It was a terrible experience. I would not recommend this restaurant for birthday gatherings. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: QAR 500+ Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
