Nestled in Shi Nonoecho, Nonchi offers diners a taste of Japanese cuisine with its unique approach to traditional dishes. Known for its gourmet udon, this restaurant provides an array of intriguing toppings such as bacon, mochi, and both vegetable and chicken tempura. Whether you're visiting for lunch or the limited dinner service on Thursdays, you'll find options like the savory bacon mochi udon competing for your taste buds’ attention.
With a light yet flavorful broth that also comes in a curry variant, the offerings are limited but diverse enough to cater to various preferences within your group. Reviews suggest a warm and inviting experience, particularly as temperatures drop. The establishment operates weekdays and weekends for lunch, with special Thursday evening hours from 6 to 8 PM.
A one-man operation, Nonchi is equipped with a computerized order and pay system, streamlining the dining process. The use of local produce is emphasized, though recent reviews are scarce, making it difficult to know if operations or menu options have changed in the past two years. Situated in Suzu, Nonchi provides a delightful outing for those looking to support local gastronomy despite the absence of current insights directly from its management.

Getting to try the food here made the 2 1/2 hour drive so worth it. Got in right when they opened, ordered on the ticket machine, watched people start pouring in, and soon after we ended up having the best udon we've ever had. One of the food highlights of our trip to Japan and I definitely recommend making the trek here if you're going to explore the Noto peninsula. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
