Ordered a noodlebox Med/hot (3 out of 5 online). I can handle hot, it's not a problem. This noodle box was searing hot. When I asked them to make a new one they rejected my concerns and said that "there is no way for them to know what my spicy level is" Disrespectful, dirty looking staff with terrible food. Store appeared dirty in the back with garbage everywhere. I would never take my family here again. Response to Noodlebox: I ordered 3 out of 5, not “hot” or the maximum spice level. There is a five-level scale for a reason. The food I received was so excessively hot that it was inedible. Instead of simply acknowledging that something may have gone wrong with the order, your immediate response was that spice is subjective and couldn't possibly be your problem. Yes, after the initial conversation, you called back almost an hour later and offered a replacement. By that point, I wasn't interested in continuing the interaction while I was with my kids. Offering a replacement afterward doesn't erase how the complaint was handled. What's especially telling is the response you've chosen to post publicly. Rather than a simple “Sorry you had a bad experience,” you've written a lengthy, sarcastic attack on a customer, complete with “for anyone keeping track” and mocking comments about the cleanliness concern. That tells prospective customers far more about how you handle criticism than my review ever could. Just look at how you handle similar reviews. And yes, I said the staff looked dirty because that was my impression when I was in the restaurant. I also observed what appeared to me to be a messy and unclean restaurant. You can provide your explanation for what I saw that doesn't mean I have to pretend I didn't see it. I paid for a meal, wasn't satisfied with it or the service, and left a review describing my experience. Your response has only reinforced my decision to never come back. James, since this review leaves out some fairly important details, here is what actually happened. You placed your order online and selected Medium/Hot (It's officially spicy). Our online menu clearly identifies that level as spicy.Your meal was then prepared at the spice level you selected. For anyone keeping track:You ordered hot.You received hot.You complained that it was hot.And then demanded a free meal because it was hot.Our staff member explained that spice is subjective and that our heat scale is not comparable to another restaurant, another cuisine, or someone’s personal tolerance. Being able to eat spicy food elsewhere does not somehow change what our Medium/Hot level is. She was polite and very professional. She also told you she would speak with a manager and call you back asap. Rather than allowing her a few minutes to do that, she was repeatedly told that “the customer is always right” and that we would “lose a customer” unless a free meal was provided immediately. She contacted management anyway.A complimentary replacement box was approved, even though your original meal had been prepared correctly. She called you back to offer it. You hung up on her while she was speaking. Then you posted this review that your concerns were “rejected.”For anyone still keeping track:You asked for a replacement. We approved a replacement. Our staff called to offer the replacement. You hung up on the person offering it.Then complained publicly that nobody helped you. We’ll let readers decide how much sense that makes.Calling our employees “dirty looking staff” is also not constructive feedback. Complaining about food or service is fair. Personally insulting employees who were actively trying to help you is simply disrespectful. As for the alleged “garbage everywhere,” the items being referred to were flattened cardboard recycling waiting to be taken out at the end of the day. So yes, there was cardboard. At a restaurant.Being recycled. We apologize that it failed to make a better impression. We take genuine concerns seriously and regularly go above and beyond to resolve them. What we cannot do is make food clearly labelled hot somehow not hot, instantly authorize compensation before a manager is consulted, or accept that repeating “the customer is always right” makes every demand reasonable. On your decision not to return, however, we can agree. Given the way our staff were spoken to and personally insulted, we think that is the best outcome for everyone.

My partner and I came in tonight to treat ourselves to some takeout but didn’t want anything that made us feel gross after. We’ve come in once before, but this time, the owner Mani was working behind the till with one of the staff. She was so kind and informative about everything on the menu and helped me figure out what I wanted since I was feeling so indecisive. While we were waiting for our order we got chatting with her, and I was so inspired and happy to hear the passion Mani has for this place. She worked corporate in Vancouver for years and had Noodlebox for lunches at her job, and decided to save up, invest, and open this location about a year ago. She’s young, she cares, and she’s here doing the work to make sure it succeeds. While writing this, we even went back up to add an egg onto my boyfriends because he saw mine, and Mani didn’t charge him, threw it on happily, and gave us a free dessert. No promise of a review, no asking, just her being kind and loving what she’s doing. It’s really really inspiring seeing a fellow young woman working SO hard. Food was incredible, space was spotless, and vibes were the best we’ve experienced with this kind of food service. Worth the drive across town for. :) Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Hey! This honestly means more than you know! Really appreciate you sharing your experience. I’m glad I could help you figure out your order (we’ve all been there), and it was genuinely nice chatting with you both while you waited. Those little moments are my favourite part of being in the store. Also, I stand by the egg decision… once you see it, you need it Thanks again for the kind words and for making the drive out. Hope we see you again soon
