I was disappointed by the food, especially considering the price we paid. We ordered starters, mains and sides, but overall the dishes lacked flavour. The Adana and chicken were very basically seasoned, and the chicken was covered with sweet peppers and tomatoes that were overly sweet and overpowered the dish. The roast potatoes were also disappointing as they had no salt or seasoning. Overall, the meal didn’t feel worth the cost. the restaurant itself has a lovely interior, the drinks were enjoyable, and the staff were very friendly. Dined at NORA in Canary Wharf, one of London’s newer additions to the Michelin Guide, bringing a refined taste of Istanbul to the city. ️. I always say the best Turkish food is still in Türkiye — but over the past few years, London has quietly become a very respectable second. And NORA feels like another confident step toward closing that gap. ️. We started with the Sesame & Caraway Pide which was, quite simply, elevated pide done properly. Order this. Then order another instead of the grilled bazlama bread — not because the bread wasn’t good, but because the pide was just that much better. ️. The Courgette Borani was deeply satisfying, while the Aubergine & Biber Kızartma completely transported me back to childhood summer evenings in Turkey. London being 26 degrees certainly helped the illusion. ️. The Spinach, Leek & Feta Mücver was probably the weakest dish of the evening for me. The shape felt slightly awkward, the dill somewhat overpowering, and the absence of courgette made it drift too far from the version I instinctively look for. ️. Then came the Pulled Lamb Mantı — easily one of the most interesting dishes on the table. The filling actually reminded me more of the Armenian meze “topik,” which I absolutely adore, though I did find myself wishing for a little more of the pulled lamb itself to come through. ️. For mains: Adana kebab with confit garlic yoghurt, ajvar and pickles. A genuinely solid kebab with excellent flavour, though perhaps deserving of slightly more generous garnish. Alongside it, a classic Shepherd’s Salad that did exactly what it needed to do. ️. What I really appreciate about NORA is the ambition behind the menu and the effort to showcase Turkish wines — including a sparkling wine from Paşaeli, which was a lovely surprise to spot in London. ️. Overall, the food is thoughtful, nostalgic and beautifully presented. I just found myself wanting slightly larger portions and a touch more boldness in a few places. ️. Still, this is a very welcome addition to London’s Turkish dining scene — and somewhere I’ll happily return to explore further. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
