NoveSette describes itself as a "refined and welcoming environment" dedicated to the "art of taste." In reality, the only thing they’ve mastered is the art of driving customers away. I only walked in because the neighboring bars were packed—now I know why this place was a ghost town. Despite their claims of "high-quality pastry and café," I was greeted by a sad, wilting display of fruit for smoothies (mostly shriveled and past its prime) and three staff members who were so deeply engaged in their own gossip that I didn't exist for the first two minutes. The "service with care" was a farce. I asked for a simple cappuccino with semi-skimmed milk. Instead, a lady (Romina) took it upon herself to force a lactose-free version on me. She even waved a carton of long-life milk under my nose as if it were a vintage wine. I gave in just to avoid a scene. What followed was an undrinkable "beverage" served in a glass mug so oversized and clumsy it looked like a decorative vase. It was watery, tasted nothing like coffee, and had a sickeningly sweet aftertaste. When I paid the outrageous price of €2.30 at the counter (a near-robbery by Roman standards) and pointed out the taste, Romina smugly replied: "Well, yes, lactose-free milk is sweeter." So, she knew she was serving me something I wouldn't like, intentionally withheld that information, and then overcharged me for the privilege. As for the "welcoming atmosphere," I left to the sound of the staff making inappropriate comments behind my back, loud enough to be heard from the street. If you're looking for an "authentic experience," look elsewhere. Here, the only thing "vibrant" is the audacity of the prices and the rudeness of the service. A total disgrace.
