After visiting Champaign Public Library, you can look over the menu at this restaurant. Ignore other places, discover the Chinese menu at Number One Wok.
This was my favorite Chinese place EVER. I came back to Urbana and am so sad it's closed. If anyone knows if these people cook somewhere else please message me. I came here for YEARS and got food and a movie. The owners kids grew up right in front of me. It was a family kind of place. RIP
For the longest time, back when my husband and I lived in that part of Champaign, if we had a craving for Chinese, it was No. #1 Wok! ;D We're generalists when it comes to Chinese.. a fried rice here, a General's Chicken there. We just aren't too adventurous, so. You really can't do those things wrong. Well, you can't do them wrong easily. And No 1 was absolutely on par with 98% of the Chinese places in that part of Illinois. There were only two better, and sadly, they've long since closed. For a fair price, head on in! Boy, I remember the days of grabbing my beef fried rice and then heading over to the video store to grab a movie! Total date night, right there in a strip mall. Good times... good times. And good food for sure!
It wasn't bad but the food was alright for the price that you pay. I got the garlic chicken with vegetables with lo mein. Paid over $9 and it was pretty greasy and just very underwhelming. Nothing particularly amazing about this place and it's not a place I intend to visit again. The amount of oil was just a bit much and the flavors were pretty typical from Asian food place to the next.
