Finally visited this shop, despite an awkward initial banter (I greeted in cantonese until I realise the two chefs in the restaurant do not speak it AWKWARD BBC introduced this as a HongKonger establishment tho) the food is lovely, I had the eel bowl, traditional takoyaki, and the brown sugar bubble tea. If I need to comment on anything, the takoyaki can be cooked a bit longer, not sure if it’s heat or time, by doing so it’ll have a darker and crispier exterior while maintaining a soft interior. bubble tea’s not artisanal, but it hits the spot in terms of pricing, it’s such a bargain, most probably because they cater to uni students nearby. The two chefs are friendly and the atmosphere is just like the family restaurants you find in Japan, what more can you ask for? Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Not sure

Proper impressed with OISHI Kitchen. I can honestly say their takoyaki is the best I’ve had anywhere in the UK, spot on flavour and great value. Portion sizes are generous, and the set meals for 2 people £28 including a drink. The food’s really authentic too, probably the closest you’ll get to proper sit-down Japanese food in Leeds. There’s only space for about four people inside, but if you can’t grab a seat, get it to takeaway, you won’t regret it. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £1–10
