Hi İlker, Reading this truly made us smile. Getting a compliment on our döner and lahmacun from a fellow Turk means a lot to us. We put a great deal of care into staying true to those flavors while sharing them with Georgetown. We look forward to welcoming you back for another taste of home soon.

The Otto dining experience was a flavor jamboree served by an accommodating and friendly staff, beginning with the bartender making Negronis using my recipe: 1½ shots gin, ½ shot Aperol, and ¼ shot sweet vermouth, served in a rocks glass with a large ice cube. Otto is a white-tablecloth restaurant serving a wide variety of Mediterranean and Turkish dishes, all featuring fresh, flavor-bursting ingredients that are artfully plated. The menu is masterfully written in my opinion. Other restaurants would benefit from studying it. Lentil Soup (V) (GF) Velvety red lentil soup, warm spices, lemon The Turkish red lentil soup had a clean lentil flavor and a smooth, velvety texture. Lemon brightened the flavor, and a touch of paprika butter on top added richness. Beets & Burrata (V)(GF) Roasted beets, burrata, mixed greens, strawberries, orange zest, blueberries, cherry tomatoes, and balsamic vinegar Seeing feta elsewhere on the menu, I asked to substitute feta for the burrata, expecting traditional authentic Greek feta. I was disappointed to find a smooth, creamy cheese in the dish, obviously not traditional authentic Greek feta, which is crumbly. I argued with the chef that it was not feta at all, but rather an ersatz substitute that restaurants often use while still calling it feta. Until yesterday, I mistakenly believed that traditional authentic Greek feta was protected worldwide under the Protected Designation of Origin system. I have since learned that PDO protection applies within the European Union and in many other countries through trade agreements with the EU. The United States is now the principal country that rejects the Greek PDO claim for feta and allows unrestricted domestic use of the name. It remains the major holdout that continues to treat "feta" as a generic cheese category rather than as an exclusively Greek product. What is wrong with that, you may ask? Greek PDO feta is made in designated areas of Greece using sheep's milk, with up to 30% goat's milk permitted. The cheese is aged in beechwood barrels and brined for a minimum of 60 days, producing a firmer, non-spreadable cheese that is crumbly, tangy, and more intensely flavored. Generic feta is commonly made using cow's milk and, while brined, is aged in tanks rather than barrels. Its texture is smooth, creamy, and spreadable. The flavor is mild. In short, they are different products. In my opinion, Greek PDO feta should prevail, and the cow's-milk product should find a new name. Until then, restaurants should make it clear on their menus which product they are serving. OTTO SIGNATURE BOWL Build Your Own Mediterranean wild rice or white rice, arugula, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, shaved red cabbage, roasted potatoes, crispy chickpeas, avocado, fresh herbs, lemon My friends loved the Signature Bowls they ordered. One added falafel and the other chicken leg. Baklava and Turkish Ice Cream A timeless Ottoman classic, layered phyllo pastry with pistachlo, served with Turkish vanilla Ice cream The baklava flavor was rich butteriness, toasted pistachio, and sweetness from the syrup. The butter and nuts kept the sweetness from tasting like pure sugar. The baklava was crisp with flaky layers of phyllo and a soft interior from the syrup. It was crunchy, not soggy. The Turkish ice cream was mildly sweet. It was noticeably denser, chewier, and stretchier than regular ice cream. It melted slowly and had a smooth, elastic texture. We ended the Mediterranean Turkish flavor adventure with Turkish coffee. It had a deep, concentrated coffee flavor and a thick texture. It was remarkably smooth with no bite or harshness. The fine grounds settled to the bottom of the cup. It was strong without being harsh. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

It means a great deal to our team when guests take the time to explore our menu so thoroughly and share their observations. We also appreciate your comments regarding the feta. If you need a review to convince you to go try this restaurant look no further! The service was excellent, Verdot was so kind to our girls night dinner group. We shared various dips and apps as well as entrées and it was all soooooo delicious, if I can reccomend 1 thing it is the lamb shanks, it was perfectly cooked and the flavours were immaculate. My next favs were the Kuru Cacik spread and Muhammara. Overall a great experience and I would totally come back here! - socials @ SpicyAivy Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $70–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Large vegetarian selection
