Katsumoto ('Victorious' in Japanese) is a fantastic spot for a quick lunchtime bite, or if you've got time on your hands, a great sit down meal. Dishes come quickly and food is generally good quality. The 'meal sets' are incredible value, which include, miso soup, pickles, potato salad, a bowl of rice and the main meal. Dishes such as Hiyaki Chu-ka - a cold summer noodle dish is something you don't find everywhere and is a favourite, even though the recipe has been changed and I believe is more Chinese than Japanese. Since the new owners took over some years ago, the menu has been slightly 'Chinafied' from the original Japanese owners, however, they have expanded the menu for the better and the choices are excellent, with genuine Japanese flavours shining through. Staff can be a little offhand and seemingly hurried for no reason, but this may be a cultural thing for efficient customer service. If you're in Rundle Mall, Katsumoto is worth a visit.
