We went to the Old courthouse Fremantle for dinner last night, we knew the ratings were poor but thought to give them a chance. I wish we didn’t… Cocktails below average. Red wine was about 5 days old, undrinkable.We waited about 45min for a meal and it was not busy at all.We sat in the bar area because there was a smell in the main restaurant which I couldn’t place. It had the smell of wet sheep, maybe the polish the use on the floor. There was a fire pit outside but it was cold in the bar.We ordered sirloin steak and prawn sliders.The 2 prawn sliders had more coleslaw than prawn. Literally one prawn per slider. Now the sirloin was another story. It was ordered as medium rare, came out medium rare with sauce which I suspect comes from the saucepan they cooked it in. It was not red wine jus as stated.There were only 6 slim wedges of potato. The steak was tough and dry, solid! Not sure how a medium rare steak can be so dry. My partner never complains about any food but he lost the will to live trying to chew through this steak. The worse part was when he asked the waitress to let the chef know that it was possibly the worse steak he ever ate in his life, she offered him a free drink. What a disappointing night for a venue with such great potential. No second chances. Never again sorry.
