restaurants like OLIVER'S ROOFTOP are blazing the trail of restaurant dining that’s equally vegan and omni friendly. Chef Rick worked his magic and prepared one of the best vegan meals along with appetizer and desserts I have ever eaten. I've eaten seitan prepared in many different ways but not surrounded in an amazing batter and purely scrumptious! The halved acorn squash was halved and filled with quinoa and bits of various veggies, lightly covered with an amazing light sauce. There were sliced and grilled to perfection carrots and asparagus on the side. Not only was the meal delicious but the vegan dessert of peanut butter cup with vegan ice cream on top so yummy!
As a vegan, I am a realist so I am aware that if you are in need of a great experience in a restaurant that doesn't normally serve a vegan meal, you might have to put in a little effort. In this case, I called ahead and specified that I wasn't just looking for merely a salad. Kudos to the manager, our server, Kate, who was amazing (as she was as excited about our food as I was!) and most of all to Chef Rick! He deserves extremely high marks for his attitude toward this challenge, the amazing vegan meal he prepared, and his skill as a chef - our meals were unique and superb!
