A new week, a new day, a new destination, let's discover Ons Coffee Roasters, it is Sunday, 15th December 2024. I arrive at 6 AM, and I have the go-ahead to take pictures and videos for my review. The ambiance and design of the cafe is nice with both indoor and outdoor seating, lots of paintings and photos adorning the walls, and the staff are welcoming and eager to serve. The expert barista is Mr. John from the Philippines with over 9 years of experience (6 years at Ons). Today, I will be tasting 3 beverages and a dessert and pastry. The coffee latte brewed with Ethiopia Gedeb Chelchele coffee beans, with a cup flavor profile of pineapple, mango, and honey, and the skills of our expert barista enhanced the taste and flavor. My rating is 8.5 out of 10. The espresso double shot brewed with Ethiopia Gedeb Chelchele coffee beans and had a nice taste and aroma. My rating is 9 out of 10. The hot drip coffee V60 brewed by hand with Indonesia Gayo coffee beans with a cup flavor profile of dried plums, dates, dark chocolate, and blueberries has a nice nutty sweetness and clean after taste. My rating is 10 out of 10. The slice of date with cheese has a nice taste, nothing special, and when paired with an espresso or black coffee, the flavors are more enjoyable. My rating is 7 out of 10. The pastry, Danish Rahash, had a well-balanced sweetness and taste. The cream has a smooth texture and tastes well with the coffees. My rating is 7.5 out of 10. A surprising fact about coffee is that light roast beans contain more caffeine than dark roasts! This is because light roast beans are roasted for a shorter amount of time and at a lower temperature than dark roast beans, so they retain more of their natural caffeine content. Light roast coffees have a milder flavor and aroma compared to dark roast coffees. Dark roast coffees, on the other hand, have a bolder flavor and aroma. The beans are roasted longer and at a higher temperature, resulting in a less acidic taste and lower caffeine content.
