A friend and I went to Opera House restaurant, Chinatown Philadelphia today, and we had the best authentic Chinese food ever! Each dish, prepared with care, has its own unique flavor and texture. We ordered 4 dishes: Peking Zhajiang Noodles, Lapi Noodles Salad, Braised Pork Balls in Brown Sauce and Crispy Fish Fillet. They are all absolutely delicious! Wait staff was very attentive and friendly! What a wonderful time we had! I would highly recommend this restaurant! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The beef noodle soup was decent, but the egg tasted suspiciously sour. We asked our waiter if the egg had gone bad and she took the dish back to the kitchen, and later said it did seem off. What was offputting is that on the cold noodles they put cilantro, even though we explicitly told the waiter to not put cilantro on anything. The cold noodles had a good presentation but were definitely not typical Chinese style, as it tasted strangely as if it had wasabi in it, which is not a Chinese flavor. The restaurant gets more than 1 star because the fried rice and Peking shredded pork were satisfactory, and the osmanthus tea drink was fragrant and nice. The menu is from all over China and maybe some SE Asia, so definitely not specializing in northern Chinese cuisine, if that matters to you. Meal type: Lunch Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

Hi, Jason Thank you for visiting Opera House Chinese Cuisine and for taking the time to share your dining experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the issue with the egg in the beef noodle soup, as well as the oversight regarding your request to hold cilantro. Once this was brought to our attention, we immediately checked with our kitchen team. Food quality and our guests’ dining experience are always very important to us, and we will continue to pay closer attention to both our dishes and service details. Our menu is inspired by a variety of regional Chinese flavors, so some dishes may differ from certain traditional regional styles or expectations. We completely understand that every guest has their own personal preferences when it comes to taste and authenticity. At the same time, we truly appreciate your kind comments about the fried rice, shredded pork dish, and osmanthus tea drink. Many of our guests especially enjoy our Northeastern Chinese dishes and homestyle flavors, which is something we are proud to offer. Every guest’s feedback is valuable to us, and we sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back for an even better experience in the future.
