Cute restaurant with amazing wait staff and pretty solid wine selection. A bit pricey for what it is, but you can tell a lot of care and love goes into the cooking. My husband and I were there on a date and did the prefix menu which was well paced and quite filling. Lots of time in between for conversation and drinks. Good food variety. Excellent presentation. And the overall atmosphere was nice too. The server we had was from Thailand and was a gem. I hope he’ll stick around so we can see him next time we’re there!

Located on a small street in Toronto, Orote is an up-and-coming modern Korean restaurant that has been open for just a year. Under the direction of Chef Kwang, the restaurant offers the best modernized version of Korean dishes. Upon entering the restaurant, guests are greeted by an open kitchen and a clean, minimalist interior. The service is akin to that of a high-end restaurant, with attentive servers constantly changing dishes. The food at Orote is superb, with flavors that are perfectly balanced. The oysters are plump and fresh, served with a refreshing mignonette. The yellowtail is clean and bright, with shiso adding a touch of freshness that complements the yuzu soy perfectly. The potatoes are similar in texture to gnocchi, and the addition of perilla adds an unexpected twist to what appears to be a truffle cream sauce gnocchi. The Korean fried chicken is sticky, sweet, and spicy - everything you look for in Korean fried chicken. The exterior is crispy, while the interior is moist. The ribeye and ssam with truffles and miso egg rice are the pièce de résistance. The ribeye is cooked to a perfect rare temperature, with the heat of the meat bringing out the notes of truffle. The ssam vegetables are fresh, featuring watermelon radish, celery, and lettuce. The miso egg rice is made with cured egg yolk that has been aged for a week. Lastly, the rice ice cream serves as a perfect palate cleanser. The dish is fresh, clean, and bright, with a mint syrup and blood oranges that provide a burst of flavor. Overall, Orote is super underrated and definitely deserves more recognition. I wish them all the best and will definitely coming back again. My wife and I had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the dinner at the Orote Restaurant. We were greeted by Sienna, our waitress, and she made us feel very welcome. Each of the dishes from the appetizers to the desserts tasted amazing!!! Sienna explained each of the dishes in detail and how to enjoy them the most. We especially enjoyed the fish and the beef dishes. 10 out 10 for sure. We plan to go back in the near future.
