A lunch with a friend in a wheelchair, immersed in the countryside in Gragnano (Lucca), this tavern makes you feel truly at home. We ate the typical Lucca tortelli with ragù and the tortelli stuffed with tripe, both excellent. As a second course, a vegetable flan and to finish, a variation of Tiramisu made with buccellato (a typical Lucca product), also delicious. The service is very attentive and the staff kind, overall I feel very satisfied and will most likely return. Vegetarian options: Excellent choice of vegetables and typical soups. Wheelchair accessibility: The car park is large with gravel but not difficult to navigate, the first stretch of the short driveway that leads to the restaurant is a little bumpy but even in this case the problem is easily overcome, however I advise disabled people in wheelchairs to be accompanied. 17 of us went to this tavern for lunch, recommended to us by one of their suppliers, who also accompanied us personally and therefore we were confident of having a top lunch. Nothing to say about the location and the welcome. The problems start at the table. The owner explains the menu well to us and the dishes offered are varied and inviting. While we wait for the appetizers, we take an already opened bottle of oil from the cupboard in the room to season a few slices of bread; I'll start by saying that we came from Modena just to taste the local oil and go and eat typical Lucchese food. When the owner saw the bottle of oil on the table he promptly took it back and put it back on the sideboard saying that it is not their practice to put oil on the table. Upon our request to still have the bottle of oil, we were told that, for them, the bottle has a cost and if customers use it to season their bread it is not okay. It's a shame that in the oil mill shop itself, the same bottle costs the public 8 euros so it certainly costs the restaurateur less. And in any case, losing face with the customer for a bottle of oil is a bad impression on the part of those who work in restaurants. We also asked to put a new one on the table and if it was a problem, to put it on the bill. Leaving aside this unpleasant episode, the typical Tuscan appetizers arrive... good but nothing exceptional. The first dish I ate (tagliolini) was really good. Now all we had to do was wait for the highlight of the day... the Florentine steak. We asked for 5 Florentine steaks, 4 of which were medium cooked and 1 well cooked. The owner advises us to receive them already cut so as to eat and portion them more easily. In the end, 5 Florentine steaks arrived, all medium rare, the one which according to them was well cooked was burnt on the surface and tasted like diavolina. Another problem: the meat was cold!!!! I am stunned and disappointed because it doesn't take much to bring hot meat to the table and I don't like to think that they did it in retaliation for the oil episode. We finish lunch, aware that we have wasted the opportunity to eat certainly better and in the total bill, divided by the number of guests, the bill was 54.88 euros each and the owner even had the courage to round it up to 55. After a small complaint on this aspect, he gave us a discount of 88 euro cents each, thus risking putting the tavern's accounts in difficulty. I'm sorry dear Innkeeper but after the disgrace of the oil you could have improved the fortunes of your business by giving a greater discount or, if you are not used to giving discounts, with a bill of almost 1000 euros, in our area, in Emilia Romagna they offer you a bottle of bitters or digestive and this even with a much lower bill, instead you preferred to continue with your low level of professionalism, managing to lower it even further. To never see each other again... P.s. to supplement after the owner's response, if there was the possibility of giving zero, I would. The fact that the meat was cold was also pointed out to a waiter. Defining "help yourself" as taking 1 half bottle of oil seems to me to be further proof that you are doing the wrong job. Every now and then knowing how to apologize, as we did for helping ourselves to the oil, is an act of elegance, and in this too it deserves a negative vote. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

We usually don't respond to reviews. But this time we're not quite there. There are only two things to say: one that you served yourself, when there were 3 of us and you could easily ask. The second, more important, that a member of your group, the head of the table in particular, came down to compliment both the food but above all to apologize for the behavior of some. Here is the whole answer to your review. And the bill wasn't 55, but 54, having also taken some off the bill! GreetingsMore
