Yasui-Konpiragu is what you should see after having a meal at Owatari. Japanese cuisine under the direction of the popular chef is gorgeous here. Nicely cooked crabs and tasty fugu are the tastiest dishes.

A MICHELIN star: cuisine of great finesse. Worth the step!
Good standard.

Gion Owatari was, without exaggeration, the best meal we’ve ever had anywhere. But what stays with you isn’t only the food — it’s the chef. Chef Owatari served with such warmth and positive energy that the entire evening felt less like dining and more like being welcomed in by someone who genuinely loves what he does. That generosity of spirit, paired with cooking at the absolute peak of its craft, made for something we won’t forget. An unforgettable meal, and an even more unforgettable host. Such an incredibly evening filled with laughter and the most delicious, precise cooking. I was the only foreigner in a room full of regulars but the sous chef, who helms from Spain, provided translation when needed and the conversation was flowing via google translator and my many grunts of ecstasy. I’m so honored to have dined here and cannot wait to return on my next trip to Kyoto. This was a special experience and a highlight for me. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
