First time we tried it was crowded so we did not stay on that date but today I went when they opened at 4 p.m. The customers were coming quickly but I was immediately welcomed and seated. Soon I was approached by my adorable server Lauren who helped me to know about the many favorites!! The manager Tiffany was very friendly and came over to greet me too. She was very warm and authentic. The atmosphere, food and two people I met gave me a great first impression. The reviews are outstanding and this place is an original! Its "southern down-home seafood " and reminds me of my roots in Louisiana. I had an oyster basket and substituted the fries for the black eyed peas with sausage (side.) Very tasty. I took home the pecan pie and it was yummy too. I was told a band would begin at 6 p.m. the description sounded like it was going to be great!! i can not WAIT to bring my family with me and make it a fun night with all the menu choices and the music and the great atmosphere. Todays meal was just a peak at this awesome place in Sarasota. And oh by the way, lots of unique shops and even a movie theatre close by. Expect Street parking and a short stroll. Love this place!!!
Ate in their backyard. Fun. Great environment. Food is quite good.
Really... I've been vacationing in the Sarasota area for about 11 years now and last night was the first time I went to Owen's. What a find! Even if the food was terrible (which it wasn't) I'd still be giving it 5 stars for the ambience. This place is nestled away off a side street ... a true hidden gem. We had dinner but it would be a perfect place to have a few snacks and drinks and just chill and enjoy the place. We started with the Deviled Eggs... which were delicious, hubby had the fish his way (grouper with a lemon butter sauce paired with dirty rice and garlic green beans) and I had the Scallops with pulled pork, succotash and grits. Both dishes were delectable and we enjoyed them very much. We also ordered the New England Clam Chowder to share and were wowed by how good that was too (I am from Wisconsin and an avid fish fry aficionado, so I know my clam chowder - and it was probably the best I've tasted). I was dying to try the Bourbon Pecan Pie, but there was no room left in our bellies... which was SO disappointing... so when you go after reading this review, please try that for me and let me know how it is!!
