Very unique place. Very busy and don't take reservations for six or more like they used to do. We had six people and had a 90 minute wait. There is a back yard where you can sit and wait and can purchase beer and wine and grilled shrimp and oysters as well as a couple of other items. There is live music also but not loud enough to block hearing your friends voices. Dinner was very good and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. It was a very pleasant night. Grits are not gritty, but very cheesy and creamy - highly recommend those and also the collard greens.
Looking for a backyard party to hang out for the night? Here's a casual yet upscale place to nosh. Both tasty and easygoing, Owen's Fish Camp combines home cooking ingredients and tasteful, epicurean combinations for a coastal delight of options with a deep rooted sense of simplicity. Garlic snails over CREAMY grits was a favorite of ours, along with the Bloody Mary shooters and the fried soft shell crab BLT and shrimp and oyster po' boy sandwich. Banjo picking, fiddle playing, singing, and seven foot porch swings on the back porch lead out to wide branching tree limbs arched with strands of lights against the sky and many a seating area if you find yourself waiting for an air conditioned table (quite common). There are smaller menus available if you choose to eat in the backyard. So enjoyable if you are able to allow time for an easy going night.
We had a wonderful time. When we arrived we were told there was an hour wait to be seated. Bummer because we were pressed for time. We told the hostess and she said no problem, you can order at the bar. Same food, we sat out back on the patio. Great food and nice blue grass music. I had the burger with pimento cheese, it was delicious!
