Very small space with tables packed tightly together, you can easily hear other guests’ conversations. The biggest issue is ventilation: with an open kitchen in such a confined area, the smoke/oil fumes were overwhelming. Near the end of the meal my eyes (wearing contact lenses) were burning and it became hard to breathe comfortably. Our clothes smelled worse than after yakiniku. Food was mostly average: tuna sashimi required scooping with a spoon but was difficult to scoop; wagyu was slightly overcooked and chewy; the deep-fried kinki with olives was quite salty. Service was slow, and portion sizes visibly differed between tables. Staff also spoke limited English and explained dishes very quietly, making it hard to understand. Focaccia was fresh and fragrant but overly hyped; the nut bread at the beginning was actually better, though bread shouldn’t be the highlight at this price/positioning. Considering it’s also hard to book (Japanese phone number required, no replies on social media), the overall experience wasn’t worth the effort, and I wouldn’t return. The sister branch of Cignale Enoteca, just 300m away, in case if you never get the luck to make reservation for the seats of Cignale then you should have Panevia as a back-up choice. It is a tightened up space with no more than 10 counter seats to enjoy watching the chefs cooking (you can learn more if you pay more attention watch them cook). It is setup more like a wine and food place, so that the food here are all easy to go with wines. I totally enjoyed watching the chefs cooking, the easy laid-back but no BS cooking style, and most important they are capable to deliver top-notch cooked food to you. The food are definitely sourced from the BEST, you can easily tell. Panevia of course has top quality Pane (the bread) they self-made on order, it comes out to your plate so hot and so fresh with so strong yeasted aroma. And the handmade pasta are just superb, and the pasts deserves more appreciation for it. And I would definitely give solid credit to the seafood they cook, becasue they recognize the full worth of the food. But Panevia is never the same height as Cignale Enoteca in my opinion, it will always be the back-up choice for it only. Price per person: ¥10,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Maybe some vegan choice, not much.
