If you’re looking for a high-quality typically Paraguayan dinner in a cool atmosphere, Patria Parrilla is a very good option for you. Patria Parrilla is located in the trendy area of La Cuadrita in Asunción. This area really comes alive at nighttime with several bars and restaurants in a row surrounded by lush jungle vegetation. The decor of the restaurant itself blends the modern and the old, incorporating spacious modern spaces with tapestries and other decor evocative of prehistoric times. My wife and I ordered three different cuts of meat and all were succulently grilled to perfection. We also tried a local specialty, mbeju, which was a corn-based flat cake with Paraguayan cheese inside. It was very good as well. The signature cocktails were also delicious and carefully-prepared. The downside to this restaurant is that the customer service could be much better. Our waiter was somewhat abrupt with us as we asked for suggestions and explanations while ordering. When the restaurant became very busy, our waiter disappeared for quite a long time, so another waiter came to us to ask if we needed anything else. We told him we wanted a couple of shots of limoncello and the check and about 20 minutes passed before our initial waiter made his way back to us and he was not aware that we had never received our limoncello shots or that we had asked for the check. All in all, the food and restaurant ambiance were great, but the customer service needs work.
