Food plating could have been better. Service is ok. Restaurant needs a remodel bad. It used to be better. Food is okay. Again used to be better.

Wanted mom and pop Americana grub, so went to Poets. Sat immediately at 8:41pm Friday 8/12/22. Serviced immediately by speedy server. We had two teas, queso n chips, side salads, chic n dumplings soup, frozen marg, large chicken fried chicken w fries, and King Ranch chicken. Chile con queso (add beef meat) scored an A+ with authenticity and plenty of peppers and delish chips. The red salsa is very mild for the the mass (no peppers in salsa.) so salsa got a B- also skip side salad (it is presented with shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes.) Entrees come with two sides, so skip side salad and choose soup and something else. Skip the King Ranch Chicken. The chicken fried chicken w pepper cream gravy got an A for taste and freshness. Skip frozen margarita and go for top shelf rocks. The buss boys serve and refill chips, salsa and drinks! The buss boys were courteous and attentive. They were nicer than our server. We tipped our busser separately in cash. Basically stick to the fajitas, Mexican, steaks and top shelf rocks. And if you feel rushed, it's not you, it is them. This was our second time eating there, so maybe the third will be the charm. Overall it's tasty and i will go back. Over all grade B+. When your roll looks like a mini muffin, that's the way it is. Definitely go for chips and queso. Skip iced tea, not best brew. Go late to get parking and no wait. If the servers seem aloof, it's not you, it must be their culture. Just make friends with young sweet busser boys to get what you need. Chicken dumpling soup got good marks.

It has been such a long time since I visited POETS! Too long, actually. Although the service was a little slow, they were packed, the entire experience was just as I remembered. I love how the lady up front greets everyone with a warm smile. The owner was all smiles and welcoming to everyone, also. The atmosphere feels like home. The food was just as I expected. Great! Everyone I went with enjoyed their meals, and we all got something different. I will not let too much time pass before my next visit. Next time I am trying a house margarita!!!
