Both Swan's Market and Pachas Afghan Kabab House are recommended for visiting. The menu of Afghan cuisine under the direction of the popular chef is wonderful at this place. A lot of guests mark that you can order nicely cooked chicken skewers, lamb shanks and beef here. Trying good yogurt is what a number of visitors recommend. Great tea will make your meal even more delicious and you'll surely come back.

Very authentic Afghani restaurant. Excellent if you're looking for a halal option in Oakland. 20 minutes driving from SF downtown. Very warm atmosphere. I loved the traditional seating option where you take off your shoes and sit on a comfy pillow on a special wooden deck. Reminded me of home. I like Afghan cuisine and had been to many authentic Afghani restaurant, and I can say that the food is very good. The only thing shy of 5 starts was the mango lace. I had better. Otherwise, the combo chicken and Lamb Tikka was excellent Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I stopped by the restaurant today since the phones weren’t working and there is a sign outside the door that says permanently closed Not sure what happened.

Was sad to see Pacha's abruptly close a couple weeks ago and wanted to give them their flowers while they look to re-open in a new spot (per owner's note). Most recently, I got the Combo Chicken and Beef Shami entree with an added Lamb Tikka skewer (takeout). First, kudos for having good meat portions! The beef shami was the star, juicy with nice char and lots of spice. The chicken shami was good too, but I imagine it would be better eating it fresh at the restaurant. The lamb tikka was very tender, less forwardly spiced compared to the beef shami. The skewers sit on top a bed of flavorful brown rice, a hearty accompaniment. Similar to other Afghan spots, the Potato Bolani comes in abundance within a pizza box (stacks on stacks!). What I like about Pacha's version is the smoothness of the potato and onion filling - it's like eating potato pillows. You can adjust the spiciness level of the bolani, and while I opted for not spicy, there was a still a slight peppery kick, which I did enjoy. For a dipping sauce, I would recommend mixing the yogurt with their green hot sauce (yum!). Hopeful that they're able to re-open - they had become my go-to after Twins Halal closed. Thank you Pacha's team for sharing your food with Oakland!
