We visited this restaurant as it’s one of the only ones open later at night and our original plans fell through. We showed up to find it fully reserved, but they were kind enough to squeeze us in last minute, even though it meant staying open later than planned for us. We only had to wait a little while just as they promised. The food was amazing and clearly made authentically. The quattro pancetta pasta was the best white pasta we’ve ever had. The service and atmosphere are small, quiet and personal. you never have to worry about being forgotten about. Best of all, we mentioned to our server that it was our 9 year anniversary, and they prepared an extra special tiramisu for us that tasted perfect and was perfectly paired with espresso. Truly grateful they did this for us. This is certainly a must stop for anyone staying in shimoda. The care for customers here was truly amazing. Being a foreign couple on vacation, experiences like this make us love Shimoda even more than we already did. We’ll remember this experience every anniversary from now on. We last visited this little gem over three years ago, on a wildly stormy night. Somehow, that memory only made returning here feel even more magical. We each ordered the deceptively simple “Green Salad” — and to this day, living in Tokyo, we still haven’t found one that compares. Fresh, delicate, perfectly balanced the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the meal ends. Alongside it came a beautifully fiery spicy pizza, velvety tiramisu, double espresso, and an affogato that felt like the perfect ending to a dream. It’s a tiny establishment, and yes, you may have to wait a little. But some places aren’t meant to be rushed — and this one is absolutely worth every moment.
