Good food, amazing ( and proper) Italian coffee and the ice cream is out of this world! Had a cherry amaretto ice cream although I was full but just couldn’t pass the opportunity. Not only the ice cream is amazing but reminded me of my childhood and the black bitter cherries that my grandma used to make jam/ preserves Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Went to the Castle and this place looked rather interesting . Popped in and had a taster of the Raspberry Ripple and I really liked the authentic taste along with the rich and thick texture. We ended up buying ice cream and chocolate cake which looked suspiciously like the one large cake in costco as did the Victoria sponge cake. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to others as it easily beats lots of shops selling 'premium ice cream' that lack this rich texture and fantastic taste. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3

On the corner of High Street overlooking Cardiff Castle occupying a tiny retail space was Palette. Inside there was only a couple of tables and the counter with ice cream and cake. The selection of ice cream was petite and mainly consisted of the core flavours. The ice cream was made by a company called Joes. I’m glad we stumbled on this. I have since found out that there is whole Joe’s ice cream parlour in Cardiff. If I return then I will check it out. On this occasion, although the offering was small at Palette, they had Welsh cake flavour. This had to be tried! We sat in at one of the tables to eat the ice cream plus we also had a hot chocolate and cappuccino. The ice cream was nice and creamy with subtle chunks of raisins and cake integrated.
