Today I had the best lunch ever at Pamela's Gourmet. She was serving sliced filet mignon with an avocado salad. It was very reasonably priced at $12.95. The salad came with greens,avocado, pomegranate seeds,onions and a delicious vinaigrette dressing. The filet mignon was cooked to my precise expectations, medium rare with a little char. I have had steaks at numerous restaurants including Firebirds, Harry's Savoy Grill, Sullivans and Walter's. I am not exaggerating when I say the steak served at Pamela's was better than any at those other restaurants. You might say at $12.95 it must have been a sliver of steak. No it was a nearly full serving. For a light dessert I had Pamela's banana bread with chocolate chips. It was warmed slightly in the microwave. $3.00 for a large slice. It was one of the most delicious desserts I have ever had. I always said her banana bread could compete for the best of all time but the addition of chocolate chips slightly warmed was indescribably delicious. I rave about Pamela's cooking. I am a highly discriminating diner. I am not sugar coating this review. Pamela's Gourmet is the best place to eat lunch in Newark.
